Our mission is to encourage new ideas, to provide, by professional approach, continuousinformation, accessibility, raising awareness to a higher level and developing new services for citizens, with their active participation and respect for human rights. Our goals are advocating for the protection of the rights and freedoms of all people, the protection and improvement of minority rights, the fight against every kind of violence, providing assistance and support in order to create better living conditions for marginalized groups, developing own activities and encouraging activities of all interested in permanent and systematical improvement and enhancement of life and work in the local community. Our target groups are: persons with disabilities, children, young people, women, elderly people, families at risk, Roma and other marginalized groups, dual and multiple-discriminated groups. The most important activities of the association are directed to providing assistance and support to people with disabilities and their families:
Assessment of the needs of people with disabilities is accomplished by carrying out a comprehensive research. Mapping the needs represents the exit towards the beneficiary and establishment of unique, high-quality, database as a prerequisite for a systematic approach to identifying the needs of people with disabilities and comprehensive care of them. On the territory of the municipality of Aleksinac 1147 people with disabilities were mapped.
Informing on rights and services that people with disabilities and their families can achieve.
Initiating the establishment of cross-sectorial cooperation, networking service providers with the aim of developing support services in the local community in accordance with the individual needs of persons with disabilities and their ages, provided through services accessible to beneficiaries and their families, with active participation for the establishment, with equal opportunities for exercising their rights.
Providing support and assistance to people with disabilities through a specially designed programme of support aimed at gaining life skills and self-reliance in line with individual possibilities.
Providing support to families of people with disabilities through strengthening their capacities.
Education of professionals working in social care, health and education system, associations of citizens for working with people with disabilities and their families.
Education of volunteers and support for the development of volunteerism.
Informing the public in order to sensitize local community to the problems of people with disabilities and their families.
Humanitarian organisation “Child’s Heart” helps persons with disabilities through the implementation of integrative, psychosocial and educative programmes. Through the educations, accredited programmes, mentoring and supervision, we have affected social changes in the Republic of Serbia and the improvement of the quality of life and work with persons with disabilities. “Child’s Heart” was founded on March 09, 2001, as non-government, non-profit and non-political organisation, registered by the Federal Ministry of Justice. The mission of the organization: is to provide professional support to the people with disabilities, their families and professionals at the territory of Serbia. The vision of the organization: is to eliminate the prejudice and to integrate persons with disabilities into the society. Since its founding, the Humanitarian organization “Child’s heart” has established partnership with: Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, Ministry of Education and Science, Republic Institute for Social Protection, UNICEF, Fund for social innovations, institutions for accommodation of persons with disabilities, institutions for children without parental care, Centres for Social Work, Day Care Centres and Centres for Family Accommodation of Children and Youth, municipalities, media companies, domestic and foreign organisations, etc. We have influenced social changes in the Republic f Serbia through:
Preparation for the process of transformation and deinstitutionalization of institutions for accommodation of persons with disabilities
Preparation for the process of transformation of institutions for the accommodation of children without parental care
Preparation of children with disabilities to move to foster families (specialized foster care)
Preparation of children and people with disabilities to go to the local community
We have developed a system for assessing the functionality of children and people with disabilities
We have introduced individual plans and plans for the treatment of vulnerable groups in the institutional documentation
We have launched social inclusion programmes for children and people with disabilities
We have conducted the educations of all stakeholders in social protection
We have structured new social services
We have developed partnerships at the local level between social service providers and municipalities
We have influenced the awareness of the local community about the needs and possibilities of people with disabilities
We have created a unique computer database for children without parental care who go to foster families to be used at the national level
We have educated volunteers and staff from the institutions for the programmes for preparing people with disabilities to leave institutions
The foundation of the Social Protection Chamber is the result of many years long reform in the social protection system and is part of the regulatory mechanism in the process of standardization and introduction of a quality system in the provision of social protection services in public, civil and private sectors. The Social Protection Chamber is an independent, professional organisation of employees in social protection which performs entrusted tasks and represents the professional interests of professional workers and associates in this field. The programme orientation of the Social Protection Chamber for 2017 is primarily based on monitoring the results and improving the licensing process of professional workers, categorization and evaluation of professional meetings, application of the Code of Professional Ethics and contribution to the promotion of professional competences. An important segment of activities during 2017 will be the application of the Rules on Internship and Examination for a Social Security License, i.e. the implementation of a new licensing procedure. The work programme of the Social Protection Chamber is based on: • Law on Social Protection • Law on Associations • Statute of the Chamber • Rules on licensing professional workers • Rules on internship and exam for the license • Rules on licensing of social protection organisations • Rules on closer conditions and standards for the provision of social protection services • Rules on professional works in social protection and Rules on Amendments The programme activities of the Chamber will be harmonized with the announced amendments to the laws and other by-laws, first of all with the Law on Social Protection.
